All of Us Researcher Workbench

The All of Us Researcher Workbench is a secure, cloud-based platform where registered researchers can access and analyze individual-level health data from the NIH All of Us Research Program. The platform includes powerful tools for data analysis and collaboration, featuring a custom Cohort Builder that allows researchers to create groups of participant data using point-and-click functionality. The Workbench stores health data from more than half a million diverse participants nationally, including electronic health records (EHR), genomics, measurements from wearables, and surveys. Researchers can perform analyses using integrated cloud-based tools, including Jupyter Notebook, RStudio, and SAS Studio, with programming languages R, Python, and SAS.

My work with the All of Us Workbench team included:

  • Partnering with leadership to ensure UX aligns with business goals, regulatory requirements, and scientific workflows

  • Facilitating design workshops to align stakeholders on vision and execution

  • Translate complex, data-intensive workflows into clear, efficient, and consistent interfaces

  • Implementing scalable design processes to increase early UX involvement in roadmap planning

  • Developing reusable design patterns and components for speed, consistency, and maintainability

  • Establish and maintain a cohesive UX strategy, design system, and visual language for a multi-application ecosystem serving both external customers and internal teams

  • Championing human-centered design principles and accessibility best practices
